Welcome to Grateful Harvest Homestead
My name is Sarah, and I have been dreaming of this homestead for almost five years now. It was a dream I forgot about after college, while working as a teacher. But once I had children, that dream was reimaged and more important than ever. I wanted to create a slower, more intentional life living with the seasons for my family.
While we waited for the right piece of land, I started learning as much as I could on our tiny .1-acre suburban plot. We grew flowers, herbs and peppers which were used for canning and fermented hot sauce. I also learned to cook and bake meals from scratch.
During those years, I fell in love with all things homesteading. I taught myself to ferment vegetables, water bath can, bake sourdough bread, make milk kefir, and preserve seasonal fruit in homemade jam. I read every gardening book I could find, dreaming of one day applying this knowledge.
Now my dream has come true and I could not be more grateful or ready to get to work. I created this space to share our adventure, so I hope you will join me. Below is a picture of the 86’x100′ area I hope to turn into a garden. Let’s grow something beautiful together.
